Originally, the tradition presumed to have been initiated by Jesus of Galilee was not (even potentially) a “religion”, and not (even potentially) a “public” (or merely exoteric) institution, and not (even potentially) a temple cult (whether at Jerusalem, or Rome, or anywhere else), nor any kind of priestly (or otherwise “official”) cult intended either to “replace” or to “succeed” the Jewish temple cult then centered at Jerusalem.
Rather, the original tradition that was, presumably, initiated by Jesus of Galilee (and his Spiritual Master, John the Baptizer) was a “Way”—a “self”-renouncing, and “world”-transcending, and inherently esoteric practice, especially (and, indeed, only) intended for those who would mature in practice (and in Truth) in a truly disciplined and Spiritually profound manner.
