A Murti shawl is an aspect of the ancient esoteric tradition of worshipping the Form of the Guru. In the Ruchira Avatara Puja, practiced every morning by devotees of Avatar Adi Da, elements, a shawl, a hat, a rudraksha mala, and flowers are placed on the Murti-Image of Avatar Adi Da in sacramental worship and Invocation. Orange-colored fabric has been chosen for these sacramental shawls, as orange traditionally represents renunciation. Avatar Adi Da has said that He wore orange to represent both the full burning away, or renunciation, of the ego and the Perfect “Brightness” of His Divine Condition.
